EVERETT 2044 <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 6/17/2025 <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />CLIMATE CHANGE AND RESILIENCY ELEMENT <br /> Page 157 <br />conserve culturally significant consumptive and non-consumptive resources including first <br />foods, medicinal plants, and materials that could be adversely impacted by climate change. <br />CC-25 When reviewing proposed developments, consider ecosystem services and climate mitigation <br />functions provided by critical areas. <br />CC-26 Support implementation of the Climate Action Plan using a reporting system for key metrics <br />including environmental justice impacts. <br />CC-27 Provide on-going public outreach to educate the community and build support for measures to <br />reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change. <br />CC-28 Promote local purchasing for businesses and residents to support local vendors, services, and <br />stores and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from commerce-related transportation and <br />food production and distribution. <br />CC-29 Encourage the provision of community space, such as commercial kitchens, for use by <br />community members and start-up agricultural businesses. <br />CC-30 Support neighborhood events such as garage sales that extend the useful life of items, and <br />clean-ups that result in recycling of appliances, metals, yard waste, etc. <br />CC-31 Promote eco-industrial development, in which a waste stream from one firm becomes the raw <br />material for another, to minimize use of new raw materials. <br />5-YEAR CLIMATE CHANGE AND RESILIENCY ACTIONS <br />Action CC-1: Update the Climate Change and Resiliency Element consistent with 2023 State legislation <br />and regional data and guidance. <br />Action CC-2: Work with regional energy partners to prepare and implement an Electrification Action Plan <br />for all City facilities. <br />
