EVERETT 2044 <br />DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS <br /> <br /> <br />6/17/2025 <br />DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS <br />Page 167 <br />19.13.190, TEMPORARY EXTREME WEATHER SHELTERS 1 <br />Temporary extreme weather shelters are limited to temporary use for the duration of a 2 <br />dangerous weather or environmental event, such as extreme cold, heat, or smoke. The shelter 3 <br />provider shall notify the city forty-eight hours prior to beginning shelter operations. Shelter 4 <br />registration may be required to facilitate communication to the community and ensure flre 5 <br />safety conditions are provided in the facility. 6 <br />19.13.220 HOME OCCUPATIONS 7 <br />A. Home occupatfons may be permitted in any residentfal zone provided such home occupatfons 8 <br />comply with the requirements of the zone in which the property is located and the following 9 <br />requirements: 10 <br />1. Home occupatfons shall not occupy more than twenty-five percent of the total floor area of 11 <br />the residence, or six hundred square feet, whichever is less. Home occupatfons carried on within 12 <br />a dwelling shall be provided access to the work space through the dwelling only, with no direct 13 <br />access to the outside; 14 <br />2. The occupatfon shall be carried on entfrely within a residence or accessory building by the 15 <br />occupant thereof; 16 <br />3. The home occupatfon may be located in the principal dwelling or in the accessory structure. 17 <br />If located in an accessory structure, the following regulatfons shall apply: 18 <br />a. The area devoted to the occupatfon, as described in subsectfon (A)(1) of this sectfon, 19 <br />shall be based upon the floor area of the dwelling only; and 20 <br />b. Access to the work space may be directly from the outside; 21 <br />4. No noise, dust, smoke, light, glare or odor shall be emitted other than is commonly 22 <br />associated with a residentfal use; 23 <br />5. The occupatfon shall be conducted in such a manner as to give no outward appearance of a 24 <br />business nor manifest any characteristfcs of a business; 25 <br />6. Occupatfons which shall be prohibited as home occupatfons include, but are not limited to: 26 <br />a. Veterinarians; 27 <br />b. Clinics; 28 <br />c. Auto repair; 29 <br />d. Auto sale; 30 <br />e. Barber/beauty shops; 31 <br />f. Real estate offices; 32 <br />g. Offices with client visits; 33 <br />h. Retail sales, on premises; 34
