Long term bicycle spaces in bike rooms and bike 1 <br />cages, or in lockers and/or hangers, when located inside a building: 2 <br />1. Must have direct access from the public right of way (street or public sidewalk). The 3 <br />beginning of the path of travel from the public right of way should be prominent and obvious. A 4 <br />bicycle access point from an alley to meet this subsectfon EMC 19.34.160(H)(1) may only be 5 <br />considered when located within 30 feet along a path of travel from a public street. 6 <br />2. The path of travel from the public right of way to long term bicycle spaces may not extend 7 <br />more than 100 horizontal feet from the exterior of the building to the spaces and shall not 8 <br />require a rider to carry their bicycle. 9 <br />3. If long term bicycle spaces are not readily visible from main building entrance(s) and/or the 10 <br />public street, signs must be prominently posted along the route (including at building entrances) 11 <br />indicatfng the locatfon of the bicycle facilitfes. 12 <br />4. Long term bicycle spaces may be located within structured parking, provided the following: 13 <br />a. Spaces shall be located no lower or higher than the first complete parking level below 14 <br />or above the automobile entrance, and must be served by a bicycle path of travel free of 15 <br />obstructfons that does not require bicycle users to carry their bicycles at any point; and 16 <br />b. Any locatfon where security features must be actfvated must have no more than a 17 <br />1:20 (vertfcal:horizontal) slope; and 18 <br />c. A locatfon more than one level below grade may be permitted where an elevator per 19 <br />EMC 19.34.160(H)(5) be provided, and a path of travel to the elevator meetfng the other 20 <br />requirements of this chapter. 21 <br />5. If a long term bicycle facility is served by an elevator, the elevator shall be designed to 22 <br />accommodate the simultaneous loading and unloading of at least two bicycles. 23 <br />I. Bike Corrals. At such tfme as public bicycle corrals may be installed in the public right of way, any site 24 <br />located within 500 feet may count such bicycle spaces towards their required short-term bicycle spaces 25 <br />as approved by the Planning Director. 26 <br />J. Lightfng and Security. Bike rooms, bike cages, and any roofed areas with bike racks, lockers, or hangers 27 <br />installed must be illumined to minimum 150 lux in the presence of people. 28 <br />K. Plan Requirements. The following bicycle facility informatfon must be included in plans as part of the 29 <br />master use and constructfon permit applicatfons: 30 <br />1. Calculatfon for quantfty of bicycle spaces required and proposed 31 <br />2. Bicycle space locatfon, type, and dimensions 32 <br />3. Type of rack or fixture (hardware) and mountfng proposed 33 <br />4. Vertfcal clearance dimensions 34 <br />5. Dimensions for clearance from wall or other vertfcal obstructfon 35 <br />6. Dimensions for separatfon between racks 36
