For two-unit buildings, the predominant roof pitch must be the same, with roof 4 <br />eaves projectfng the same distance from the building wall for each dwelling unit. 5 <br />3. Building Separatfon. Where the density of the zone allows more than one building to be 6 <br />developed on a lot, a minimum separatfon of ten feet, not including eaves or other building 7 <br />appurtenances, is required between buildings. 8 <br />4 3. Exterior Stairs. Fire escapes and exterior stairs providing access to an upper floor are not 9 <br />allowed on any facade that faces a street unless another building is between the façade and the 10 <br />public street. 11 <br />5 4. Transparency. At least fifteen percent of the area of each street-facing facade must be 12 <br />windows or main entrance doors. Windows used to meet this standard must allow views from 13 <br />the building to the street. Glass block does not meet this standard. Windows in garage doors do 14 <br />not count toward meetfng this standard. 15 <br /> C. Exterior Materials 16 <br />1. Durability 17 <br />a. Exterior tfmber shall be protected from decay by at least one of the following: 18 <br />(1) Staining and sealing; 19 <br />(2) Paintfng; and/or 20 <br />(3) Material propertfes. Pressure treated lumber is not allowed as a façade finish 21 <br />material. The following types of unpainted wood are allowed: 22 <br />(A) Teak or Iroko 23 <br />(B) Cedar 24 <br />(C) Redwood 25 <br />(D) White Oak( or Garry Oak) 26 <br />(E) Ipe/Brazilian Walnut 27 <br />(F) Bald Cypress 28 <br />(G) Black Locust 29 <br />b. Exterior ferrous metals shall be protected from corrosion and leaching by at least one of 30 <br />the following: 31 <br />(1) Paintfng or other impermeable coatfng; and/or 32 <br />(2) Metallurgical propertfes. The following types of metal are allowed: 33 <br />(A) Galvanized steel 34
