2025 FEDERAL OVERLAY, BROADWAY – CALIFORNIA ST TO 18TH ST SPECIAL PROVISIONS
FEDERAL AID# STBGUL-2715(012); COE PW# 3841 SP-115 May 6, 2025

11. The sawcut width shall be a minimum of 1/4" for the loop and 3/8" for the 1
home run. 2
12. The sawcut shall be cleaned out with a high pressure water stream and 3
then dried with compressed air prior to placing the wire. 4
13. All splices between the loop wire and the loop lead-in cable shall be 5
soldered and utilize a splice kit in conformance with Standard Drawing 6
809. 7
14. When the roadway is to be overlaid as a part of the project, the loops 8
shall be installed prior to the final overlay. 9
15. Circular loops are standard installations. Where shown in the Plans, the 10
contractor shall install quadrupole loops at stop lines due to stub-out 11
diameter. At locations where quadrupole loops are shown and adequate 12
stub-out diameter exists, round loops may be substituted for quadrupole 13
loops. 14
15
16
Existing Traffic Loops 17
18
The Contractor shall notify the Area Traffic Engineer through the Engineer a 19
minimum of five (5) working days in advance of pavement removal or grinding 20
in areas with existing loops. 21
22
If the Engineer suspects that damage to any loop, not identified in the Plans as 23
being replaced, may have resulted from Contractor’s operations or is not 24
operating adequately, the Engineer may order the Contractor to perform the field 25
tests specified in Section 8 20.3(14)D. The test results shall be recorded and 26
submitted to the Engineer. Loops that fail any of these tests shall be replaced. 27
28
Loops that fail the tests, as described above, and are replaced shall be installed 29
in accordance with current City of Everett design standards and Standard 30
Drawings, as determined by the Engineer. 31
32
If traffic signal loops that fail the tests, as described above, are not replaced and 33
operational within 5 working days, the Contractor shall install and maintain 34
interim video detection until the replacement loops are operational. The type of 35
interim video detection furnished shall be approved by the Engineer prior to 36
installation. 37
38
GLF 8-20.4.DOCX 39
8-20.4 Measurement 40
41
Section 8-20.4 is supplemented with the following: 42
43
(******) 44
“Vehicle Loop Detectors”, for both loop perimeter and home run, shall be measured by 45
the linear foot of the neat sawcut line in place in the roadway. No additional measurement 46
will be made for the installation of lead-in conduit and shall be included in the 47
measurement 48
49
