2025 FEDERAL OVERLAY, BROADWAY – CALIFORNIA ST TO 18TH ST SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br />FEDERAL AID# STBGUL-2715(012); COE PW# 3841 SP-66 May 6, 2025 <br /> <br /> 1 <br /> 2 <br />DIVISION2.GR2 3 <br />Division 2 4 <br />Earthwork 5 <br /> 6 <br />GLF 2-08.DOCX 7 <br />2-08 STREET CLEANING 8 <br />(******) 9 <br /> 10 <br />Section 2-08 of the standard specifications is vacant shall be replaced by the following: 11 <br /> 12 <br />2-08.1 Description 13 <br /> 14 <br />This work shall consist of sweeping all construction related roads, and cleaning the 15 <br />pavement and removing debris from the roadway. 16 <br /> 17 <br />2-08.2 Vacant 18 <br /> 19 <br />2-08.3 Construction Requirements 20 <br /> 21 <br />The use of water to perform street sweeping work shall be held to a minimum unless 22 <br />designated otherwise by the Engineer. The contractor shall provide self-propelled pickup 23 <br />sweepers and/or vacuum pick up sweepers for pavement cleaning and debris removal 24 <br />whenever their use is ordered by the Engineer. The type and number of sweepers are 25 <br />subject to the approval of the Engineer. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Daily sweeping shall continue on all construction related roads at least once per day until 28 <br />said surface is covered with new HMA. In the event the Contractor sweeper will not be 29 <br />able to work daily on ground surfaces, the City Forces will provide services, and the 30 <br />Contractor will be billed for each hour of operation. 31 <br /> 32 <br />The following work shall not be paid by “Street Cleaning”, it shall be included in the bid 33 <br />item “Planing Bituminous Pavement” (2” Deep), per square yard: 34 <br /> 35 <br />1. Sweepers following the grinding work. 36 <br />2. Debris left in the road or on the side of the road from Planing Bituminous 37 <br />Pavement. 38 <br /> 39 <br />The Contractor shall plan the operation to minimize the need for street cleaning. 40 <br /> 41 <br />2-08.4 Measurement 42 <br /> 43 <br />Street cleaning will be measured by the hour for the actual time consumed in sweeping, 44 <br />pavement cleaning, and debris removal. No allowance will be made for time consumed 45 <br />in making repairs to the equipment or for moving the equipment to or from the site on 46 <br />which the street cleaning is ordered. No separate payment will be made for water 47 <br />required for the normal operation of the pickup sweepers. 48 <br /> 49
