2025 FEDERAL OVERLAY, BROADWAY – CALIFORNIA ST TO 18TH ST SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br />FEDERAL AID# STBGUL-2715(012); COE PW# 3841 SP-74 May 6, 2025 <br /> <br />The Contractor shall furnish and install all pins, brackets, tensioning devices, wire, and 1 <br />accessories necessary for satisfactory operation of the automatic control equipment. 2 <br /> 3 <br />If the paving machine in use is not providing the required finish, the Engineer may 4 <br />suspend Work as allowed by Section 1-08.6. Any cleaning or solvent type liquids spilled 5 <br />on the pavement shall be thoroughly removed before paving proceeds. 6 <br /> 7 <br />5-04.3(3)D Material Transfer Device or Material Transfer Vehicle 8 <br />A Material Transfer Device/Vehicle (MTD/V) shall only be used with the Engineer’s 9 <br />approval, unless otherwise required by the Contract. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Where an MTD/V is required by the Contract, the Engineer may approve paving without 12 <br />an MTD/V, at the request of the Contractor. The Engineer will determine if an equitable 13 <br />adjustment in cost or time is due. 14 <br /> 15 <br />When used, the MTD/V shall mix the HMA after delivery by the hauling equipment and 16 <br />prior to laydown by the paving machine. Mixing of the HMA shall be sufficient to obtain a 17 <br />uniform temperature throughout the mixture. If a windrow elevator is used, the length of 18 <br />the windrow may be limited in urban areas or through intersections, at the discretion of 19 <br />the Engineer. 20 <br /> 21 <br />To be approved for use, an MTV: 22 <br /> 23 <br />1. Shall be self-propelled vehicle, separate from the hauling vehicle or paver. 24 <br /> 25 <br />2. Shall not be connected to the hauling vehicle or paver. 26 <br /> 27 <br />3. May accept HMA directly from the haul vehicle or pick up HMA from a windrow. 28 <br /> 29 <br />4. Shall mix the HMA after delivery by the hauling equipment and prior to 30 <br />placement into the paving machine. 31 <br /> 32 <br />5. Shall mix the HMA sufficiently to obtain a uniform temperature throughout the 33 <br />mixture. 34 <br /> 35 <br />To be approved for use, an MTD: 36 <br /> 37 <br />1. Shall be positively connected to the paver. 38 <br /> 39 <br />2. May accept HMA directly from the haul vehicle or pick up HMA from a windrow. 40 <br /> 41 <br />3. Shall mix the HMA after delivery by the hauling equipment and prior to 42 <br />placement into the paving machine. 43 <br /> 44
