These products are made to the highest quality standards
and have been successfully applied in various climatic regions around the world for decades. The proven performance of
IKO shingle products makes them suitable for any residential or commercial roofing application.
In order to assure our customers of the highest quality roofing products available in the marketplace, IKO has achieved
the following technical conformances and certifications in our various manufacturing facilities.
1. IKO shingles meet the ASTM E108 test method for the Fire Resistance of Roof Coverings. The shingles, when
installed with an underlayment felt, qualify for the higher Class A rating. The Canadian equivalent to the ASTM E108
tests is CAN/ULC S-107. IKO shingles have been independently tested for their fire resistance by Factory Mutual
Research Corporation.
2. All IKO shingles have achieved a wind resistance rating as assessed by the ASTM D3161 Wind Resistance Test for
Asphalt Shingles. This test is conducted in a laboratory in which the shingles are conditioned in a warm room to
activate the shingle sealant bond and then the shingles experience a continuous wind, with a typical test speed of 97
km/hr (other wind speeds may be used). The shingle sealant system must restrict any portion of shingle from lifting
during the test. Our shingles have also been tested to ASTM D7158 which simulates wind resistance based on
laboratory measurements of shingle geometry, inherent stiffness, and sealant strength.
3. The IKO shingles conform to the material standards as prescribed by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA)
standard A123.5 for glass mat reinforced shingles. They also conform to the prescriptive and performance
requirements of ASTM standard specifications D3462 and D3018 for glass shingles. These material standards
prescribe minimum levels for shingle weight, percent of asphalt, mineral granule coverage, and shingle strength. See
shingle bundle wrapper to confirm which standards each shingle brand meets.
4. The IKO quality control system is modeled after the International Standards Organization (ISO) 9000 series of quality
control practices. In fact some IKO plants have achieved independent certification to the ISO 9001:2008 quality
control system.
5. IKO's Cambridge IR and Crowne Slate premium laminated shingles are made with SBS modified bitumen, which gives
these shingles exceptional durability and impact resistance. These products have been independently certified as
conforming to FM 4473 impact resistance standard, Class 4 (best rating available). Note: This certification is solely
for the purpose of enabling residential property owners to obtain a reduction in their residential insurance premium
and it is not to be construed as any type of express or implied warranty by the manufacturer, supplier, or installer.
IKO Industries continues to be an active participant in standards-writing organizations and independent authorities which
set requirements for roofing material performance around the world. The company also continues an active and
aggressive research program to continually upgrade and improve the manufacturing process, raw material selection, and
finished product specifications for all of its roofing products.
For additional information on any of IKO's products or application requirements, visit us on the web at www.iko.com, or
contact us in Canada at 1-855-456-7663, or the United States at 1-888-456-7663.
RD I E,C E 0 V RE.'
NOV 3 0 2023
CITY OF EVERETT
Permit Services
