y L
1.0 PROJECT OVERVIEW
This Technical Information Report(TIR) provides the engineering data, analysis, and supporting
calculations to develop the storm system design for Cascade High School's proposed track and
field improvements. This project is subject to the City of Everett's Everett Municipal Code
(EMC) Chapter 14.28—Ordinance 2196-97 and the 2010 Stormwater Management Manual.
1.1 General Project Description
The 37.3-acre site, owned by Everett Public Schools, is located at 801 East Casino Road in
Everett, Washington. The school campus is bounded by East Casino Road to the east, State
Route 526 to the south, commercial properties to the west, and Bruin Boulevard to the north.
Originally built in 1961, the school and its associated improvements have gone through several
modernizations and renovations to date. Existing driveways along the east side of the property
provides access into the site from East Casino Road. The athletic fields and open grassy areas are
located on the north half of the subject property. This area will be the primary focus of the
campus improvements. The remaining south half of the site consists of the existing buildings and
parking lots and is not a part of this project.
The proposed improvements primarily consist of re-surfacing the track with a synthetic material,
adding two additional running lanes, and improving the"D" areas on the north and south ends of
the football field. The existing drainage system will, for the most part, remain in place.
However, existing catch basins and pipes near the west side of the field will be relocated to allow
for the expansion of the track. A recent TV inspection of the drainage system showed it to be in
good condition.
The school construction is planned for the summer of 2012.
2.0 SITE ASSESSMENT
2.1 Topography
In the area of the track and field, the general topography slopes down in elevation from west to
east. The total topographic relief in this area is approximately 10 feet. An existing mounded
slope and bench is located along the western perimeter of the site, which includes an existing
gravel access road and the shot-put area. The track and field is generally flat. The athletic fields
and parking lots east of the project site slopes gently down,at 1-3 percent,to East Casino Road.
2.2 Drainage
The existing drainage system, which will remain in place, consists of a series of pipes and catch
basins conveying flows east to the existing on-site storm detention pond adjacent to East Casino
Road. The football field has perforated underdrains. A recent TV inspection of the drainage
system showed it to be in good condition. Upon completion of all construction activities, the
existing drainage system will be cleaned.
Technical Information Report
Cascade High School—Track Replacement Project 1 Integrityworks Consulting.Engineers,LLC
Project No.212104
