.IKrazari & ASSOCIATES, INC. <br /> GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING • ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING <br /> CONSTRUCTION TESTING & INSPECTION <br /> August 24,2012 KA Project No. 092-12004 <br /> GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING INVESTIGATION <br /> PANERA BREAD No. 1678 <br /> 308 SE EVERETT MLL WAY <br /> EVERETT,WASHINGTON <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> This report presents the results of our geotechnical engineering investigation for the proposed Panera <br /> Bread No. 1678 project located at 308 NE Everett Mall Way in Everett, Washington, as shown on the <br /> Vicinity Map in Figure 1. Discussions regarding site conditions are presented in this report, together <br /> with conclusions and recommendations pertaining to site preparation, excavations, structural fill, utility <br /> trench backfill, drainage and landscaping, erosion control, foundations, concrete floor slabs and exterior <br /> flatwork,retaining walls,and pavement design. <br /> A site plan showing the approximate exploratory soil boring locations is presented following the text of <br /> this report in Figure 2. A description of the field investigation, laboratory testing, and the exploratory <br /> soil boring logs are presented in Appendix A. Appendix B contains a guide to aid in the development of <br /> earthwork specifications. Appendix C includes specifications for the design of pavement sections. The <br /> recommendations in the main text of the report have precedence over the general specifications in the <br /> appendices. <br /> PURPOSE AND SCOPE <br /> This investigation was conducted to evaluate the shallow soil and groundwater conditions at the site, to <br /> develop geotechnical engineering recommendations for use in design of specific construction elements <br /> and to provide criteria for site preparation and earthwork construction. <br /> Our scope of services was performed in general accordance with our proposal for this project,dated May <br /> 8,2012 (Proposal Number G12-269WAB)and included the following: <br /> • Preparation of a site plan showing the locations of the geotechnical borings, comprehensive <br /> boring logs including soil stratification and classification, and groundwater levels where <br /> applicable; <br /> Eleven Offices Serving The Western United States <br /> 11715 N.Creek Parkway S.,C-106•Bothell,Washington 98011•(425)485-5519•Fax:(425)485-6837 <br />
