IRDC EVERETT TRANSFER FACILITY Everett,Washington
IGroundwater Conditions
Groundwater seepage was observed to range from 11 to 14 feet below the ground surface during
I
the drilling in borings B-2, B-4, and B-5 through B-8. We expect that the groundwater levels will
fluctuate in response to water levels in the Snohomish River and also seasonally with precipitation.
IPAVEMENT LOADING CONDITIONS
I We understand that RDC operates heavily loaded equipment at the site to transfer containers from
trucks to a train. Our understanding of the pavement loading conditions is based on information
provided by Reid Middleton in an email dated April 24, 2013. The equipment used at the site
I currently consists of a Caterpillar V-925, Rago-Wagner reachstacker and the Kalmar 5501.
We understand that the Kalmar reachstacker is the heaviest and most often used piece of
equipment. The service weight of the Kalmar is about 173 kips with a rated capacity of about
I 99 kips. We understand that the typical container weight at the site ranges from about 74 kips to
78 kips. Therefore, the combined maximum loading of the reachstacker is approximately 250 kips.
The containers are delivered to the site on trucks weighing about 21 kips with the heaviest
I trailers weighing up to 25 kips. RDC has recorded container counts loaded from trucks since
August 2011. The container counts are summarized in Table 2. We understand that the facility
receives approximately 55 to 100 truck trips per day based on their customer needs.
ITABLE 2.
