1
1.0 STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM OPERATION
' This Operations and Maintenance Manual shall be kept at the Jacksons Food Store Building and
shall be available to the City for inspection upon request. Please see the contact information
listed below for the person responsible for the maintenance of this site. The proposed Jacksons
' storm drainage system will be designed to collect stormwater runoff in catch basins and pipes
and direct the runoff to two biofilter cells prior to discharge off site. The maintenance and
operation of the pipes, catch basins, and biofilter facilities within the property limits is the
responsibility of Jacksons. Please see the contact information listed below for the person
responsible for the maintenance of this site.
T e bulld •
f
T streets parking areas w graded so is collected in catch basins and
' directed
he to theand on-site biofiiter cell systemillbe prior to do torunoff the public combined sewer system
located in the Alley to the north. Water quality is not required since the onsite runoff is being
discharged to the public sanitary sewer.
An oil/water separator(OWS) for the under canopy runoff is provided for spill control. The OWS
has an emergency shut-off valve and will be placed in the closed position in the event of a spill.
The oiUwater separator discharges to the public sanitary sewer system. Please refer to the
' enclosed Storm Drainage Facilities Map for locations of catch basins, oil/water separator,
detention vault, and pipe routing.
Regular inspection and maintenance is required to keep the storm drainage system in good
working order. Good housekeeping measures can be used to reduce the amount of sediment,
trash, and debris that reach the storm drainage system, which could clog the basin grates and
pipes.
Included in the appendices of this report are the operation and maintenance guidelines for the
catch basins, biofilter cells, and the oiUwater separator. These guidelines call for regular
' maintenance of the catch basins and oil/water separator twice a year, as well as after all major
storm events. A sample maintenance log is provided in this manual.
