Jane Zimmerman
From: Dave Voigt
Sent: Wednesday,July 16, 2014 11:10 AM
To: Jane Zimmerman
Cc: Gordon Witcher
Subject: RE:Jacksons food store,Walnut& Everett
In general, the sewer and SD pipe layout should work OK, but here's some considerations and comments:
1. Connection to the existing 15" dia pipe in the alley is OK, however that is a very deep main and it's old concrete
pipe (1917)—could be fragile, difficult and expensive. I suggest they use the existing side sewer pipe which is 6"
dia PVC(2002)which is rather close to the proposed connection location anyway.Construction note hexagon#1
should be revised to inspect the existing 6" side sewer and its connection to the main—maybe some spot repair
needed but would be easier and less expensive than building a new SS connection.
2. Sewer condition inspection was last done in 2002 and the condition was"POOR"for the main and manholes.
Replacement or rehabilitation of this pipe is not currently planned, but work on regulator R4 at Chestnut is likely
to happen before 2017.
3. The pipe shown as going diagonally to the NE from SSMH-D is going the wrong way—it diagonals to the NW and
then North up the alley and is a 30" dia trunk. The 30" dia trunk continues going east from SSMH-D. At the NE
cThe CB-A is shown connecting to an "SD" pipe which not correct—that is actually the 30"dia CS trunk.
4. Regarding the SD connection, kind of the same concerns as with the side sewer connection. There appear to be
several existing connections to either the 15"or the 30"CS pipe and some are "standpipe"type. I suggest they
find an existing"standpipe" connection that is relatively new and use that for the SD discharge.
5. There is high likelihood that a Stormwater separation project will happen to the north of this site and that the
old 30"CS trunk would be re-purposed into a SD outfall going to SRO4. We would be able to divert the SD from
this site into that outfall in the future. They should keep the SS and SD separated into the alley—the design
shown is OK in that regard.
That's about all I have time for right now.
See you next week.
Dave
From: Dave Voigt
Sent: Tuesday, July 15, 2014 4:30 PM
To: Jane Zimmerman
Cc: Gordon Witcher , /
Subject: RE: Jacksons food store, Walnut & Everett ,'
I will furnish you with some written comments before I leave.
ia YC1 ( 1
From: Jane Zimmerman
Sent: Tuesday, July 15, 2014 3:22 PM
To: Dave Voigt
Cc: Gordon Witcher
Subject: RE: Jacksons food store, Walnut &Everett
1
