SLC
SILVER LAKE CENTER Environmental
The Project Plan acknowledges the environmental context of the Site in many ways,the first by its
intentions for surface water management.
Over the years adjoining projects have influenced the site by directing some and sometimes all of their
run off and today a shallow grass line swale exists along the northeastern boundary of the Site. This
swale was then turned ninety degrees,becoming a ditch that during the winter rains carries water a a very
fast pace to a culvert extending into Silver Lake;
The entire course of this run-off is through a highly degrade man made confluence and has little or no
value to the enhancement of water quality;
The parking lot that currently serves the existing Safeway store also has no effective means of mitigating
the detrimental effects of such an area;
In our view,there is much opportunity to develop a more responsible and effective means of improving
the quality of water that is in part the reason for the existence of the Lake;
Our goal is to employ the physical characteristics of the Site,in particular the topographic changes
together with the Project Plan,by creating a water course than fords it way through various elements
within the Project,then into a cascade of"silos"that then feed the reflecting ponds along SR527;
Silver Lake Center Project Profile Page 13 of 21
