I
APPENDIX A
IFIELD EXPLORATION AND LABORATORY TESTING
Norpro Building B
IEverett Washington
On May 25, 2011,we explored subsurface soil conditions at the site by excavating 4 test pits to a maximum depth
1 of 12 feet below existing surface grades using a track-mounted excavator. Previously in February of 2007, as
related to geotechnical exploration for the TOC Building to the north, two test pits were excavated in the project
I area to depths of 10 and 14 feet. We determined the locations in the field by measuring from existing structures
and topographic features. The test pit locations are shown on Figure 2. The Test Pit Logs are presented on
Figures A-2 through A-7.
I, A geotechnical engineer from our office conducted the site explorations, classified the soils encountered,
maintained a log of each test pit, obtained representative soil samples, and observed pertinent site features. All
Isoil samples were visually classified in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System(USCS)described
Representative soil samples obtained from the test pits were placed in sealed plastic bags and taken to our
I laboratory for further examination and testing. The moisture content of each sample was measured and is
reported on the Test Pit Logs.
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
Project No.T-6578
i
