Mercer WEATHER: Cloud TEMP: 45' F A Krazan & Associates, Inc. representative visited the above -said project as per contractor's request and inspected fireproofing intumescent paint. Thin Film Intumescent Fire -Resistive Material (TFIFRM) from SHERWIN-WILLIAMS was applied for two-hour rated WF steel beams (2)W10X30 at mezzanine level (level 1B) using brushes. Based on the exposure surface of the beams and UL design # Y623 & N636, Sherwin-Williams designed using FIRTEX Design Estimator Software and provided the following thickness threshold requirements: 1) W l OX30 at 1 — 7/D.3 on LIB, DFT = 221 mils and 2) W10X30 at 2.5 — 6.5/H on LIB, DFT = 170 mils. Dry film thicknesses [DFT] of the paint on beams were tested using a digital thickness gauge called PosiTector 6000 and compared with the thicknesses. GC representative presented and witnessed calibration of equipment PosiTector 6000 and thickness measurement & reading. Field testing of DFT was conducted in accordance with 2015 IBC chapter 17, ASTM E605, AWCI (Technical 12-B). The DFT reading varies widely and are below the minimum threshold given to us [see above] and recommended to add more intumescent paint. * Note that the top flange of the beams along H-line was not painted at the high flute of the metal deck.
