Functional and operational testing was successfully completed on February 15, 2024.
Normal, automatic for first alarm, manual override of normal and automatic modes, and return to normal
operations were successfully tested.
In particular, acceptance testing observations included:
• Observation of compliance of the system components.
• Observation of testing of the system operation.
• Observation of functional testing of the system to ensure proper functions.
• Observation of performance testing of the shaft pressurization systems.
OBSERVATIONS:
Based on our observations, we have the following findings regarding the performance and functionality
of the stair shaft pressurization smoke control systems for Stair 1 and Stair 2:
U
1. Proper stair pressurization fan and damper operation, and proper status indications were
observed for each fan and damper:
a. Fans were examined for correct rotation.
b. Each VFD control panel is in an enclosure at the top of the associated stairwell.
c. Fan motors were verified to have a minimum 1.15 service factor.
d. Failure of a smoke control fan to provide sufficient air movement to activate it's
associated sail switch resulted in a FAULT condition on the Fire-fighter's Smoke
Control Panel, indicating that the fans were running but the air was not being
displaced.
E Engineering Your Success
