CR-1
CR-1
Project; Four Corners - Bldg A
Description; Wall Wind Load
Components & Cladding Worksheet
References: ASCE 7-10 Section 30.5, 30.7
Last Updated: September 2017
Description:
The worksheet calculates C&C wind pressures from ASCE 7-10 Chapter 30, parts 2 and 4. It automatically
looks up tabulated values and applies adjustment factors based on data inputs, interpolating between
tabulated values where specifically allowed by the text. When interpolation is not specifically allowed, the
more conservative tabulated value is used.
Separate effective wind area inputs are used for calculating overhangs and parapets, versus roofs and
walls.
Notes:
Part 2 calculations are valid up to a 60' mean roof heightleave height. Eave height is used when roof slope
is less than 10°. Interpolation is performed between tabulated effective wind areas. Overhang pressures
are derived four tabulated values on page 347 of ASCE 7-10, not calculated via equation 30.10-1.
Part 4 calculations are presently valid only up to a 80' mean roof height. This is because the data tab
presently does not have tabulated values between 80' and 160', and can be increased to 160' by including
the additional tabulated values from Table 30.7-2. Alternatively, the values may be manually entered into
the calculation tables.
Interpolation is performed in Part 4 between tabulated height values for both the ptabl, references and the
exposure adjustment factor (EAF), when applicable. The data tab also includes derived values for 100 mph
wind speed, using the formula on page 323. Reduction Factor values were calculated by fitting a
logarithmic function to a series of data points taken from the reduction factor graph on page 324. The
equation matches the curve to approximately three decimal places, and is shown on the data tab for
reference.
Revision Notes:
Initial version.
Revision History:
8-Sep-17 Template created
Made By: SGT
Bldg A C&C - Wallxlsm - Cover Sheet DCG Last Saved Date: 20-Apr-2020
