11 <br /> } <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1 (09' <br /> An ordinance relating to the operation of motor vehicles within <br /> the city of Everett, amending rrdinances numbers 1531 and 1666 of <br /> the city of Everett, and declaring an emergency. <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That Section 15 of Ordinance No. 1531 of the <br /> city of Everett as amended by Section 2 of Ordinance No. 1666 of <br /> said city, be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> "Section 15: No person shall ride, drive, or propel any <br /> automobile or other motor vehicle between the hours of sunset and <br /> sunrise unless there shall be fastened to the front thereof two <br /> white lights, so arranged as to adequately light, illuminste,and of <br /> sufficient lighting power as to reveal any person, vehicle or sub- <br /> stantial object upon the roadway straight ahead of said motor vehicle <br /> at a distance of at least one hundred fifty (150) feet. These lights <br /> must be permanently arranged so that no portion of the reflected beam <br /> of light when measured at a point fifty (50) feet or more ahead of <br /> the vehiCle' shall rise more than fortytwo (42) inches above the level <br /> surface on which the vehicle stands.Such lights shall also give suf- <br /> ficient side illumination to indicate any person, vehicle or substan- <br /> tial object within ten (1C) feet of the side of said motor vehicle, <br /> at a point ten (10) feet or more ahead of it. The term "beam" as <br /> used herein shall be construed as meaning the approximately parallel <br /> rays of light as gathered and projected by the reflector. And every <br /> automobile and motor vehicle either standing, or being ridden, driven <br /> or propelled upon any of the streets or alleys of the city of Everett <br /> between the hours of sunset and sunrise shall also carry one red light <br /> so fixed as to be invisible from the front and visible from the rear <br /> for a distance of at least one hundred (100) feet; and no person shall <br /> permit any headlight or other light on any motor or other vehicle <br /> being driven or in use by him to send out dazzling or blinding rays <br />
