Mr. Camilo Zambrano
Edca Inc.
Plan Check Number: B2306-065, First Building Review
August 8, 2023
2. The description of work in the permit application states install new 1/2-inch plywood. It is not
clear if this is an overlay on the existing or will replace the existing decking. If the existing
decking is removed, thereby exposing the roof framing, the building is required to be insulated
to comply with current energy code requirements. See IEBC Section 707.1 and WSEC Section
C503.1.
Structural
1. The project may include structural work. Sealed and signed drawings and calculations prepared
by a professional engineer licensed in the state of Washington per RCW 18.43.010, 18.43.020,
and 18.43.070. See IBC Section 107.1 and additional comments below.
2. The existing structure is required to comply with IEBC Section 706.1 and 706.2 for support of
the new roofing loads. Documentation substantiating compliance should be submitted for
review.
3. The description of work in the permit application states install new 1/2-inch plywood. It is not
clear if this is an overlay on the existing or will replace the existing decking. The latter will
require structural drawings sealed by a professional engineer. Note that a maximum sheathing
replacement area not to exceed 5% of the roof area will be allowed without engineered
drawings. See Structural Comment 1 above.
4. The building includes unbraced URM parapets, including but not limited to the east wall of the
building. Construction drawings and calculations for parapet bracing are required. See IEBC
Section 706.3.1.
This review has been performed for general compliance with the building codes as adopted and
amended by the state of Washington and the city of Everett. Corrections and comments made
during the review process do not relieve the project from compliance with code and permit
requirements. The designers-of-record are responsible for a complete design in accordance with
the laws of the state of Washington.
If you have any questions or require additional clarification, please contact us.
Respectfully,
Drew Martin, P.E., S.E.
Associate Engineer/ Commercial Plans Examiner
(425)257-8813
dmartin@everettwa.gov
S:\BMartin\2023\B2306-065_R1.docx
3200 Cedar Street © 425.257.8810 O everetteps@everettwa.gov
Everett,WA 98201 425.257.8857 fax everettwa.gov/permits
Page 2 of 2
