Seaway Commercial Center Subsurface Exploration, Geologic Hazard,
7007 Seaway Boulevard and Geotechnical Engineering Evaluation
Everett, Washington Project and Site Conditions
I. PROJECT AND SITE CONDITIONS
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report presents the results of Associated Earth Sciences Inc.'s (AESI's) subsurface
exploration, geologic hazard, and geotechnical engineering evaluation for the subject project.
The location of the subject site is shown on the "Vicinity Map," Figure 1. The approximate
locations of the explorations accomplished for this study are presented on the "Existing Site and
Exploration Plan," Figure 2, and the "Site and Exploration Plan," Figure 3. Interpretive
exploration logs of the subsurface explorations completed for this study are included in
Appendices A and B. In the event that any changes in the nature or design of the proposed
layout is planned, the conclusions and recommendations contained in this report should be
reviewed and modified,or verified, as necessary.
1.1 Purpose and Scope
The purpose of this study was to provide subsurface data to be used in the design and
development of the subject project. Our study included a review of available geologic literature
for the site, performing eight exploration pits and one exploration boring at the site, and
performing geologic studies to assess the type, thickness, distribution, and physical properties
of the subsurface sediments and shallow groundwater conditions. Geotechnical engineering
studies were also conducted to assess the type of suitable foundations for the proposed
structure, allowable foundation soil bearing pressures, anticipated settlements, slab-on-grade
support recommendations, site preparation and grading recommendations, drainage
considerations, and infiltration feasibility at the site. This report summarizes our current
fieldwork and offers geotechnical design recommendations based on our present
understanding of the project.
1.2 Authorization
Authorization to proceed with this study was granted by Mr. Adam Clark of 2812 Architecture
by way of a signed proposal agreement prepared by AESI, titled "Proposal for Subsurface
Exploration and Geotechnical Engineering Evaluation, Seaway Commercial Center," dated
September 16, 2020. This report has been prepared for the exclusive use of 2812 Architecture,
and their agents, for specific application to this project. Within the limitations of scope,
schedule, and budget, our services have been performed in accordance with generally accepted
geotechnical engineering and engineering geology practices in effect in this area at the time our
report was prepared. No other warranty, express or implied, is made.
December 17,2021 ASSOCIATED EARTH SCIENCES,INC.
PEL/ld-20200319E001-002 Page 1
