. T ORDINANCE No . 1749 . An ordinance providing for the organization of the Water Depart- ment of Everett , providing rules and regulations for the control of said Water Department , fixing,regulating and controlling the use and price of water supplied by said Everett , repealing ordinance ryo . 1739 and all other ordinances in conflict with any of the provisions hereof, and declaring an emergency. THE CITY OF EVERET 1' DOES ORDAIN Section ;. : 'There is hereby created in the Lepartment of Publ io Works of the city of Everett , a sub-department to be known as the Water Department . • Sect ion 2 : There shall be in said Water Department the followir. -officers and employees : One superintendent , one foreman of construction and maintenance, one cashier, one assistant cashier) one blacksmith, one pipe fittee, two inspectors, one pump operator, one time and storekeeper., and so many laborers as may be necessary. Additional pipe fitters, inspectors, pump operators , and time keepers may be appointed temporarily, as needed . Section 3 : The superintendent if said Water Department shall be experienced in the management and operation of water and hyaraulic sys- tems, and shall have in his charge sand under his control ,subject to the commissioner of Public Works the maintenance,management and operation of the water system of the city of Everett , including when completed, the Sultan Xiver gravity supply line and all auxi, lary pumping apparatus, res- ervoirs and pipes and of all persona employed thereon, and of all construc- tion ,work undertaken by the city in connection with said water system. The official title of said superintendent sha7 1 be Superin- tendent of Everett Water Department . tie shall be appointed by the city . council of Everett . Section 4 : The salaries of officers and employees in said department shall be as follows : Superintendent , one hundred fifty dollars per month; foreman of construction and maintenance , one hundred ten dollars per month;tcashier ,ninety dollars per month; assistant cashier seventy dollars per month for the first year, and thereafter seventy-five dollars per month; blacksmith,eighty dollars per month; pipe, fitters, two dollars
