Exhibit A (Scope of Work) <br />SCOPE OF WORK <br />Service Provider shall assist the City Attorney’s Office in matters pertaining to tort <br />claims against the City. Service Provider will be expected to provide emergency service <br />at any time to investigate an occurrence which may have liability implications for the <br />City. City of Everett emergency claims shall take priority. Such duties shall include the <br />following: <br />• Receive notice of and create files on each claim submitted to Service Provider by the <br />City Attorney’s Office and maintain these files for the City. Each claim file shall be <br />maintained on a current basis to reflect summary of investigation, witness names and <br />addresses, liabilities, exposure, and recommended disposition; <br />• Investigate all claims submitted by the City Attorney’s Office to determine liability and <br />estimated settlement value; <br />• Request timely payments of claims, in accordance with settlement and payment <br />procedures as established by the City Attorney’s Office. The City will be solely <br />responsible for providing payment as may be required for any claims assessed against <br />it; <br />• Prepare documentation and defense of cases, and assist assigned legal counsel in <br />preparation of cases for litigation; and <br />• Maintain and provide the City pertinent data on all claims payments. <br />
