Project Scope: Willow Village – Design & Development <br />The Willow Village project is a temporary public art and community engagement initiative <br />scheduled to be hosted in the Arboretum during Summer Fest, July 15–18, 2026. The 2025 <br />project phase focuses on the planning, design, and development of the program, with the <br />goal of delivering a fully developed and implementation-ready plan by December 2025. <br />Purpose <br />To design a nature-based, interactive art installation and community engagement <br />experience that celebrates traditional craft, fosters creative exploration, and activates <br />public space during Summer Fest 2026. <br />2025 Deliverables <br />•Concept Design: Finalize the artistic and structural design for three child-sized <br />willow wigwam-like structures to be installed in the Arboretum. <br />•Program Plan: Develop a detailed plan for community engagement activities, <br />including a willow weaving workshop to be held on July 18, 2026. <br />•Site Planning: Identify and assess installation locations within the Arboretum, <br />ensuring accessibility, safety, and environmental compatibility. <br />•Partnership Development: Identify and confirm collaborators (e.g., artists, <br />educators, cultural organizations) to support design, fabrication, and facilitation. <br />•Documentation: Produce a comprehensive project brief and implementation guide <br />to support seamless execution in 2026.
