The external wall
load includes the wind load effect, but also accounts for the additional stiffness added by the exterior
sheathing. In both cases, the members are adequate to support the load of the structure. Most of the new
load added to the existing structure is in the form of dead load added to stiffen and strengthen the existing
floor joists, and a very small percentage of new live load area is being added. The new live load is
primarily supported by new beams and posts, as specified in the plans.
If there are any questions regarding this, or if we may be of further assistance, please contact this office.
Sincerely,
West Coast Structural Engineering Inc.
c
io indquist, PE
Engineer
1 /,/ 17,010
p,.
