e .� •. 4, <br /> ORDINANCE NO, Me. <br /> Me. <br /> An ordinance relating to interference with witnesses of <br /> the police court. <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: It shall be unlawful for any person to prevent <br /> or attempt to prevent, by persuasion, threats, promises, compensation, <br /> or offer of compensation, any person from appearing as a witness <br /> before the police court of the city of Everett in any action pending <br /> the rein, <br /> Section 2: It shall be unlawful for any person to give, <br /> offer or promise, either directly or indirectly, any compensation, <br /> gratuity, or award to any witness or person who may be called as a <br /> witness in an action before the police court of the city of Everett, <br /> upon an agreement or understanding that the testimony of such wit-, <br /> nese shall be thereby influenced, or to attempt by such means, or <br /> any other means, to induce any such witness, or person who may be <br /> called as a witness, to give false testimony , or to withhold true <br /> testimony, or to absent himself from the trial or hearing in said <br /> cause and court. <br /> Section 3: Any person or persons violating any of the <br /> provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, <br /> and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not exceeding <br /> the sum of one hundred ( ''100) dollars, or by imprisonment for a per- <br /> iod not exceeding thirty (30) days, or by both such fine and impris— <br /> onment. <br /> ram'° <br /> Passed FER 1519I6 Mayor, <br /> Attest <br /> City Clerk.. <br /> Published t ' 1916 <br />
