Exhibit A (Scope of Work)
SCOPE OF WORK
The Objective
The objective is to assess the quality of movement of the individual
Officers and identify problem areas in the body that can lead to future
injury.
●Need #1: Improve systems and methods for assessing a Police Officer’s
musculoskeletal system.
●Need #2: Improve interventions and training programs for injury reduction.
●Need #3: Improve human performance while decreasing work-related injuries and
time loss from work.
The Opportunity
The opportunity is for Engineered Sports to assess individual Police
Officer’s muscles, joints, and flexibility through reliable and valid evaluation
methods. This is performed by Washington State licensed Physical
Therapists and Certified Athletic Trainers.
●Goal #1: Schedule Everett Police Officers for individual TFMA Testing.
●Goal #2: Record and analyze the data of the Officer’s functional movement testing.
●Goal #3: Email individual ‘Corrective Exercises’ to the Officers following the Assessment (Video
format). These Corrective Exercises can be integrated with the Officer’s current training program or
can be done independent of a training program. The Corrective Exercises are well-designed so that
they can be done at home, if needed, using minimal and affordable equipment.
The Solution
The solution is to provide functional testing to the Everett Police
Department aimed at reducing musculoskeletal injuries, thus
reducing time loss from work, reduce overtime pay to cover injured
Officers, and reduce L&I costs by the Department and corresponding
Municipality.
●Recommendation #1: Perform a Tactical Functional Movement Assessment.
●Recommendation #2: Design individual ‘Corrective Exercises’ based on test
results.
●Recommendation #3: Track the individual Officers throughout the year and provide
ongoing intervention strategies through education, acute-injury screenings and
Physical Therapy, as needed.
