• is paid. Section 4: The city clerk, upon issuance of a license, shall give to the licensee a license number. Said license number shall be painted upon or placed upon each vehicle operating under such license,,* in the manner required by the Commissioner of Safety. Section 5: It shall be unlawful for any person to drive or operate any jitney buss unless the owner of said vehicle has paid the license fee and obtained a license to engage in the business Of operating a jitney buss, as herein provided. Section 6: It shall be unlawful for the driver or oper- ator of any jitney buss to stop the same for the purpose of taking on or discharging passengers on any street intersection, or to take on or discharge passengers at any street intersection. "Street intersection", as herein used, includes sidewalks and the entire width of the streets. Section 7: Avery driver or operator of any jitney buss shall, when stopping on any street for the purpose of taking on or discharging passengers , stop such vehicle as near the right-hand curb of any such street, as possible. Section 8: Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished by a fine not exceeding one hundred ($100.00) dollars , or by imprisonment in the city jail for not exceeding thirty (30) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Section 9: WHi RiAS, the above ordinance is necessary for the proper protection of persons using the streets of the city of Averett, an emergency is declared to exist, and this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publication.
