Cal Bearman
From: Cal Bearman
Sent: Friday, August 16, 2024 10:35 AM
To: MATT.FLECK@CESOI NC.COM
Subject: Permit Services - M2408-051 - 6617 Associated Blvd
Good morning,
I have completed the first Building review for your submitted documentation for the mechanical permit application at
6617 Associated Blvd (M2408-051).This is for review of building issues only. This email will serve as the building
department correction letter. The comments below should be addressed. Please submit revised drawings and
calculations per the re-submittal instructions on our website linked here: https://www.everettwa.gov/2683/STEP-3-
Permit-review
Comments
1. The drawings indicate that rooftop unit is to be coordinated with structure, but there are no structural
calculations or drawings that show the coordination. Prior to the mechanical permit approval, the submitted
documents should demonstrate that the new units do not increase the previously permitted loading condition
on the roof by more than 5%. The weight of all accessory components to the RTUs (e.g., mounting curbs,
operating weight with fluid, etc.) should be included. If the load increase exceeds 5%, a structural analysis of the
supporting framing is required. See IEBC Section 706.2.
2. If installation of the units requires substantial structural modifications to the supporting framing, a building
permit will be required. I am not aware of a separate building permit submission for the work yet, but if one is
forthcoming with structural coordination, it should include drawings and calculations for the proposed
modifications. Minor modifications (e.g., blocking between existing framing, curbs, sheathing penetrations that
do not cut framing members) may be performed within the scope of the mechanical permit application.
Please use the Online Permitting Portal to check the status of all reviews. General permit questions can be addressed to
Permit Services at.PermitServices@everettwa.gov or (425) 257-8810.
Thank you,
Cal
— Cal Bearman, P.E.
Associate Engineer—Building Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8810 1 3200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett, WA 98201
EVERETT Phone Hours: M/W/Th: 8 a.m.—12 p.m. & 1 p.m.—3 p.m.
everettwa.gov/permits I Facebook I Twitter
Note:Emails and attachments sent to and from the City of Everett are public records and may be subject to disclosure pursuant to the Public
Records Act.
1
