- Kirk Brooks
From: Corey Hert
Sent: Friday, September 09, 2016 12:54 PM
To: Kirk Brooks
Cc: • Tim Miller
Subject: Corrective Action for 41st St Roundabout Striping
Kirk,
Here is what I feel was discussed in today's meeting.
1. Roadway will be open during daylight hours only until corrective action is taken on the striping. Roadway shall
be barricaded nightly by the developer using Type 3 barricades with 48" x 30" R11-2 Road Closed signs. One
barricade per traveled lane at a minimum. Barricades can be removed from the roadway daily or stored in the
bike lane during the day. If stored in the bike lane, barricades shall have cones and a sign BIKE LANE CLOSED
AHEAD at 50' in advance of closure.
2. Corrective action shall be to stripe the roadway with paint per Temporary Pavement Markings- Long Duration
per WSDOT/APWA Standard Specification 8-23. Long line shall be a total of 25 mils in two coats, the first coat
already have been applied, the second coat must have glass beads. 6" wide long line shall be revised to 8" long
line. Existing pavement arrows shall be removed and replaced with symbols per WSDOT/APWA Standard
Plans. For symbols and arrows, paint is sufficient but durable pavement markings are recommended. For
crosswalks, all 8' wide crosswalks shall be revised to 10'wide bars. One through left arrow in the right lane of
the circulating roadway(south side/right lane/station 125+00) need to be replaced with a left arrow. All
symbols and crosswalks shall have 2 coats, 25 mils total, and the final coat shall have glass beads. Grinding is
allowed for removal of arrows, shot blasting or water blasting is not required as described in the
specifications. If there are any questions regarding acceptability of methods or materials, please call John
Wisdom at 425-328-0642 or Corey Hert at 425-328-0640.
3. A period of two weeks is allowed for corrective action. If striping does not meet nighttime and wet weather
reflectivity requirements by September 23, 2016 at 7:00pm,the roadway will be closed to public traffic until
corrective action is complete. The city will provide barricades initially, but the developer needs to provide
replacement barricades as soon as practical.
Corey N.
