The Contracting agency will collect three <br />2 Production Samples of HMA on the first day of paving per AASHTO T 168 sampling <br />3 procedures. <br />4 <br />5 a. The Contracting agency will test one Production Sample in accordance <br />6 with section 5-04.3(8)A for field verification per the requirements of <br />7 Section 9-03.8(7). <br />8 b. If the test results from the first Production Sample are within the <br />9 tolerances of section 9-03.8(7), the mix design will be considered <br />10 verified and the test results will be used as acceptance sample number <br />11 one. <br />12 c. If the test results from the first Production Sample are outside the <br />13 tolerances of section 9-03.8(7), the other two samples will be tested and <br />14 the results of all three tests will be used for acceptance in accordance <br />15 with Section 5-04.5(1) and will be used in the calculation of the CPF the <br />16 maximum CPF shall be 1.00. <br />17 <br />18 4. Prior to the first day of paving, six Ignition Furnace Calibration Samples shall be <br />19 obtained to calibrate the Ignition Furnaces used for acceptance testing of the HMA. <br />20 Calibration samples shall be provided by the Contractor when directed by the <br />21 Engineer. Calibration samples shall be prepared in accordance with WSDOT SOP <br />22 728. <br />23 <br />24 5-04.3(8)A ACCEPTANCE SAMPLING AND TESTING HMA MIXTURE <br />25 <br />26 Section 5-04.3(8)A1 of the Standard Specifications is deleted and replaced with the <br />27 following: <br />28 <br />29 5-04.3(8)A1 GENERAL <br />30 <br />31 Nonstatistical evaluation will be used for the acceptance of all HMA for this <br />32 project. <br />33 <br />34 The 18-kip-Equivalent Single Axle Load (ESAL) for mix design purposes is 12 <br />35 million. <br />36 <br />37 The mix design will be the initial JMF for the class of HMA. The Contractor may <br />38 request a change in the JMF. Any adjustments to the JMF will require the <br />39 approval of the Project Engineer and may be made in accordance with Section <br />40 9-03.8(7). <br />41 <br />42 SECTION 5-04.5 OF THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS IS DELETED AND <br />43 REPLACED BY THE FOLLOWING: <br />44 <br />45 5-04.5Payment <br />46 <br />47 Section 5-04.5 of the Standard Specificaitons is supplemented with the following: <br />48 <br />49 Payment will be made in accordance with Section 1-04.1, for each of the following bid <br />50 items that are included in the proposal: <br />51 <br />52 "HMA Class ‰ inch, PG 64-22, per ton.
