RRFB PEDESTRIAN SAFETY October 31, 2025 <br />STATE FUND # HLP-PB25(004) <br />WO 3807 <br />Page 54 of 82 <br />1 <br />2 <br />3 DIVISION8.GR8 <br />4 Division 8 <br />5 Miscellaneous Construction <br />6 <br />7 8-01.GR8 <br />8 Erosion Control and Water Pollution Control <br />9 <br />10 COE 8-04 Curbs.docx <br />11 8-04 CURBS, GUTTERS, AND SPILLWAYS <br />12 (******) <br />13 <br />14 SECTION 8-04.1 OF THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS IS DELETED AND REPLACED BY <br />15 THE FOLLOWING: <br />16 <br />17 8-04.1 Description <br />18 <br />19 "Cement Concrete Curb and Gutter Type A-1" and "Cement Concrete Curb Type E-1" <br />20 shall be in accordance with Section 8-04 of the Standard Specifications as modified in <br />21 these Special Provisions and shall conform to the Construction Plans and Standard <br />22 Drawings. <br />23 <br />24 SECTION 8-04.3(1) OF THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS IS SUPPLEMENTED BY THE <br />25 FOLLOWING: <br />26 <br />27 8-04.3 Construction Requirements <br />28 <br />29 8-04.3(1) Cement Concrete Curbs, Gutters, and Spillways <br />30 <br />31 Joints shall be dummy joints at a maximum spacing of 15’ with 1/2" through-expansion <br />32 joints at beginning of curves, at curb return tangency points, at each side of catch <br />33 basins, and at driveways. <br />34 <br />35 The subbase for curb and gutter sections shall be compacted to 95% density at <br />36 optimum moisture content before placing the curb and gutter. <br />37 <br />38 The top of the finished concrete shall not deviate more than 1/8" in 10’, nor the <br />39 alignment 1/4" in 10’. <br />40 <br />41 Where shown on the plans, or as directed by the Engineer, the concrete curb will be <br />42 depressed for wheelchair ramps and driveways, per Standard Drawing Nos. 307 <br />43 321. <br />44 <br />45 Cement concrete curbs shall be constructed where shown on plans or as directed by <br />46 the Engineer in accordance with Standard Drawing Nos. 307 311. <br />47
