RRFB PEDESTRIAN SAFETY October 31, 2025 <br />STATE FUND # HLP-PB25(004) <br />WO 3807 <br />Page 64 of 82 <br />1 To maintain safe traffic conditions, existing signals shall remain in operation until a <br />2 simultaneous cut-over to the signal can be accomplished. <br />3 <br />4 At the time of turn-on of new signals, temporary "SIGNAL AHEAD" signs shall be placed <br />5 upstream on all approaches. These signs shall remain in place for not less than 7 nor more <br />6 than 21 calendar days. All signs shall be highly visible and placed in a safe and secure <br />7 location. <br />8 <br />9 At the time of cut-over of revised signals having phasing which is different from the old <br />10 signal operation (i.e., added phase, split phase, etc.) temporary "TRAFFIC REVISION <br />11 AHEAD" signs shall be placed upstream on all approaches. These signs shall remain in <br />12 place for not less than 7 nor more than 14 calendar days. At a cut-over of revised signals <br />13 having phasing which is the same as the old signal operation, no temporary signing is <br />14 necessary. All signs shall be highly visible and placed in a safe and secure location. <br />15 <br />16 Paragraph 4 shall be replaced with the following: <br />17 <br />18 Unless approved by the Engineer, no change to signal stop and go operation will be <br />19 allowed between 5:00am to 8:30am and 3:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday through <br />20 Thursday, nor will signal operation changes be allowed on Mondays, Fridays, <br />21 weekends, holidays, or the day preceding a holiday. <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 3807 KEL 8-20.3(13)C LUMINAIRES.docx <br />27 8-20.3(13) Illumination Systems <br />28 <br />29 Luminaires <br />30 Section 8-20.3(13)C is supplemented with the following: <br />31 <br />32 Unless otherwise noted, luminaires in the project will be furnished and installed by the <br />33 Contractor. <br />34 <br />35 Street Luminaires (LED) <br />36 <br />37 Street Luminaires shall be an integral unit with the specified optical performance, and <br />38 mechanical features that facilitate installation and maintenance. The fixture shall have a full <br />39 size terminal block and quick electrical disconnects to assure easy installation, leveling, and <br />40 maintenance access. A flush house-side shield plate shall be factory supplied and installed if <br />41 required by the plans. <br />42 <br />43 The housing shall be cast aluminum with a universal 4 bolt slipfitter for a two inch nominal <br />44 mounting tenon. The unit shall have cooling fins to make for a long-life, efficient LED unit. <br />45 Electrical components shall be accessible without tools and mounted on or behind a removable <br />46 power door. The power door shall feature quick electrical disconnects to the terminal board <br />47 and LED board. The luminaire shall be provided with a ANSI seven pin (PCR7) photocell <br />48 receptacle. <br />49 <br />50 Each luminaire shall be provided with a shorting cap. <br />51
