RRFB PEDESTRIAN SAFETY October 31, 2025 <br />STATE FUND # HLP-PB25(004) <br />WO 3807 <br />Page 72 of 82 <br />Category 2: Sensitive information <br />1 9-29.2 Junction Boxes, Cable Vaults, and Pull Boxes <br />2 <br />3 Section 9-29.2 is supplemented with the following: <br />4 <br />5 All junction boxes shall conform to the details shown on the WSDOT Standard <br />6 Drawings J-40 series, City of Everett Standard Drawing 808, and shall be of the type <br />7 indicated in the plans. All junction box lids and frames shall be galvanized and those <br />8 installed within sidewalk areas shall be slip-resistant. All junction boxes shall have <br />9 base sections as shown in City of Everett Standard Drawing 808. All junction boxes <br />10 to be located in the street or shoulder area shall be heavy duty junction boxes as <br />11 detailed in Standard Plan 1-40.20 and described in Section 9-29.2(1)B. <br />12 <br />13 Vaults shall be as indicated on the drawings shall be 233-LA, 444-LA and 504-LA, or <br />14 approved equivalent. Lids for the vaults shall be 23-2436P, 44-332P and 55-332P, <br />15 respectively and shall be slip-resistant. <br />16 <br />17 All junction boxes and vaults placed in sidewalk or pedestrian path shall meet a gap <br />18 acceptance requirement of no more than ‰ wide with greater than … deep <br />19 depression. Any junction boxes or vaults that do not meet the gap acceptance <br />20 requirement will be rejected. <br />21 <br />22 Concrete Junction Boxes <br />23 <br />24 Slip-resistant treatment on vaults, slip-resistant lid, and slip-resistant frame shall be <br />25 treated with Mebac#1 as manufactured by IKG industries, or SlipNOT Grade 3-coarse <br />26 as manufactured by W.S. Molnar Co, or SafTrax TH604 by Thermion, Inc. Where the <br />27 exposed portion of the frame is ‰ inch wide or less the slip-resistant treatment may <br />28 be omitted on that portion of the frame. The slip-resistant lid shall be identified with <br />29 permanent marking on the underside indicating the type of surface treatment (M1 <br />30 for Mebac#1; or S3 for SlipNOT Grade 3-coarse, or TH for Thermion) and the year <br />31 manufactured. The permanent marking shall be 1∕8 inch line thickness formed with a <br />32 mild steel weld bead. <br />33 <br />34 <br />35 <br />36 KEL 9-29.2(4) COVER MARKINGS.RTF <br />37 9-29.2(4) Cover Markings <br />38 Section 9-29.2(4) is supplemented with the following: <br />39 <br />40 Junction Box Identification <br />41 Junction boxes, pull boxes and cable vaults shall be marked with the appropriate <br />42 legend in accordance with the bead weld details in the Standard Plans and per <br />43 9-29.2(4).
