RRFB PEDESTRIAN SAFETY October 31, 2025 <br />STATE FUND # HLP-PB25(004) <br />WO 3807 <br />Page 73 of 82 <br />Category 2: Sensitive information <br />1 <br />2 Insulation color shall be as follows: black for leg 1, red for leg 2, and white for neutral. <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 KEL 9-29.6 LIGHT STANDARDS.RTF <br />6 9-29.6 Light And Signal Standards <br />7 <br />8 Section 9-29.6 is supplemented with the following: <br />9 (******) <br />10 <br />11 Light standards or signal standards may be painted or finished as identified in the plans <br />12 and specifications. <br />13 <br />14 All lighting standards furnished and installed under this contract shall be aluminum, <br />15 galvanized steel, or concrete as specified on the plans. Unless otherwise noted on the <br />16 plans, aluminum and steel standards shall have large radius davit luminaire arms. <br />17 Mounting heights for light fixtures shall be 35’ unless otherwise indicated on the plans. <br />18 The base shall have 4 anchor bolts with a nominal 11-12" bolt circle or per the pole <br />19 fabricators standards for the particular pole. <br />20 <br />21 All poles and arms shall be designed with a minimum weight of 50 pounds for the luminaire <br />22 and to withstand pressures caused by wind loads of 90 miles per hour with a gust factor <br />23 of 1.3. <br />24 <br />25 All poles to be furnished shall maintain a minimum safety factor on yield strength and basic <br />26 wind pressure per the AASHTO recommendations for the particular pole material. <br />27 <br />28 The shafts shall be provided with a 4" x 6" (minimum dimension) flush handhole near the <br />29 base designed to prevent loss of shaft strength and provided with matching metal covers <br />30 secured with stainless steel screws or bolts. The handholes shall be located near the base <br />31 and on the down stream side of traffic flow. A grounding nut or provision in the handhole <br />32 frame for accommodating a threaded bolt for the purpose of attaching grounding connector <br />33 shall be provided on the inside of the shaft. <br />34 <br />35 All street lighting pole shafts shall be round and tapered unless otherwise noted on the <br />36 plans or approved by the Engineer. Material for aluminum poles shall be natural polished <br />37 aluminum. <br />38 <br />39 All bolts, nuts, screws, and washers, but not including anchor bolts and unless otherwise <br />40 specifically designated herein, shall be stainless steel. <br />41 <br />42 The luminaire arms shall have a nominal length as shown on the plans measured from the <br />43 centerline of the shaft. The outer portion of the arm shall be nearly horizontal to plus 5o <br />44 above horizontal and shall be furnished with a 1-1/2" to 2" O.D. tenon with a maximum <br />45 length of 10" to fit the luminaires specified herein. <br />46 <br />47 Foundations for street lights shall be in accordance with City of Everett Standard Plan 812. <br />48
