RRFB PEDESTRIAN SAFETY October 31, 2025 <br />STATE FUND # HLP-PB25(004) <br />WO 3807 <br />Page 77 of 82 <br />Category 2: Sensitive information <br />1 Controller Cabinet Assemblies <br />2 <br />3 Preemption: <br />4 The system shall be capable of preempting the controller to the phases shown in <br />5 the Plans when a signal is received from the field detector. <br />6 <br />7 The Contractor shall furnish and install detectors and detector wiring where <br />8 shown in the plans. The location of the detectors shall be field checked and <br />9 approved by the Engineer prior to installation. <br />10 <br />11 All detectors and phase selectors shall be fully compatible with the GTT <br />12 Opticom brand of Central Management Software operated by the City of <br />13 Everett. Phase selectors shall be plug-in, four-channel, dual-priority, encoded <br />14 signal device designed for use with infrared system emitters and detectors. <br />15 The phase selector shall have 10/100Mb Ethernet communication on the front <br />16 panel, USB 2.0 communication on the front panel, and RS232 communications <br />17 on front port and rear backplane. <br />18 <br />19 All detector wiring shall be shielded detector cable that meets the manufacturers <br />20 specifications for the detectors. The detector cable shall be brought back to the <br />21 controller as shown in the wiring schedule in the plans. No splicing will be <br />22 allowed between the detector and the controller cabinet. When called for in the <br />23 plans the detector cable shall be attached to a #9 galvanized iron wire messenger <br />24 with black nylon tie wraps at 18" intervals. <br />25 <br />26 LED amber beacons to serve as confirmation lights for the emergency <br />27 preemption system shall be furnished and installed where shown on the plans. <br />28 The LED beacons shall be mounted vertically on either the pole or the pedestrian <br />29 head housing as indicated. They shall have a shatter-resistant polycarbonate <br />30 amber lens and be rated for NEMA 4X applications with a flash rate in the order <br />31 of 60 to 65 flashes per minute. The LED amber beacon shall be set to flashing <br />32 mode. <br />33 <br />34 The beacons shall operate on 120 VAC and be connected to the controller <br />35 cabinet with IMSA Spec. 20-1-1984 2 conductor #14 stranded wire or as shown <br />36 in the wiring schedule in the plans. The Edwards 48XBRM Class LED beacons <br />37 are a pre-approved model. <br />38 <br />39 <br />40 KEL 9-29.13(1) Testing and Acceptance.RTF <br />41 9-29.13(1) Environmental, Performance, and Test Standards for Solid-State <br />42 Traffic Controller Assemblies <br />43 Section 9-29.13(1) is supplemented with the following: <br />44 <br />45 Testing and Acceptance <br />46 The City of Everett will test all equipment upon delivery.
