S . - # f. . , <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 16261 <br /> An ordinance amending Article 12 of the City Charter <br /> of the city of Everett by adding thereto a section to be designated <br /> as section 1CO1,.. , relating to officers ard employees of the city of <br /> Everett , and to employment of persons by the city of Everett , and <br /> to the employees of contractors and sub-contractors performing work <br /> for the city of Everett . <br /> THE CITY' OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN : <br /> section 1 : That Article 12 of the City Charter of the <br /> city of Everett be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto <br /> a section to be designated as section 1CC1 . Said section shall read <br /> as follows : <br /> section 10C1 : Every officer and employee of the City <br /> of Everett shall be a citizen of the United states and a resident <br /> of Everett . Qualified electors shall be employed in preference to <br /> non-electors , and married men and men of family in preference to <br /> un-married men and men without family , and such preference shall <br /> extend to ranking uron the elegi.bi.lity list of the Civil Service <br /> Commission , which is not inconsistent with the following : <br /> Provided , however, that this section shall apply only <br /> to day laborers and not to positions coming within the provisions <br /> of this article and shall not apply to positions re:luiring technical <br /> skill or scientific knowledge . <br /> Prbvidei the term employee as used in this section <br /> shall be construed to include employees of contractors and sub- <br /> contractors on said work. <br /> Passed by the 3ualified electors of the city of <br /> Everett at the general t' a dm4 Election held November :3rd ,1914, <br /> by a vote of 6026 for the ordinance and 1588 against the_ ordinance . <br /> ,/:/ --- <br /> �` City Clerk <br />
