• • j <br /> • <br /> must be securely fastened to a substantial structure. <br /> Section 9: It shall be unlawful to set up or maintain <br /> any sign or signboard over or across any sidewalk, street or alley in <br /> said city; and it shall be unlawful for any person, or for the owner, <br /> occupant or person in control of any premises , to set up or maintain <br /> any post, billboard or any kind of obstruction in any street or alley <br /> or upon any sidewalk for the purposes of fastening thereto any sign, <br /> awning, or advertisement. <br /> Section 10: It shall be unlawful for any person to erect <br /> or maintain any wooden awning, sign, or shed in or over any street, <br /> alley, or sidewalk in said city,or drop or permit to extend any awa- <br /> ing, or other materials , nearer the surface of such street, alley <br /> 1 or sidewalk than eight (8) feet. <br /> Section 11: No sign, placard, or advertisement shall be <br /> r ' <br /> ' erected or maintained in said city if the same extends more than six <br /> (6) inches over any street, alley or sidewalk, without the consent <br /> of the city council; and no application for such consent shall be <br /> made unless the same is accompanied with a set of plans showing the <br /> nature, location, dimensions, color, kind and quality of sign or <br /> placard sought to be erected, or maintained. <br /> PROJECTING BUILDINGS AND EAVES. <br /> Section 12: It shall be unlawful to erect or maintain any <br /> building or structure in such manner that any part thereof extends <br /> over any street, alley or sidewalk; provided that any bay windows, <br /> cornices, eaves , etc. may extend not more than twenty-four (24) <br /> inches over a street, alley or sidewalk if more than ten (10) feet <br /> from the surface of such street, alley or, sidewalk. <br /> Section 13: It shall be unlawful to erect or maintain <br /> any pipe or conductor from the eaves of any building, or from any <br /> premises so as to cause water or drainage to flow across or upon <br /> any sidewalk. <br />
