Samples of concrete floor and slab for each finish specified in Part 3 approximately <br />four feet square and a minimum of four inches thick, with one construction joint and <br />one expansion joint, if used. <br />14. Concrete delivery truck tickets showing the information listed in ASTM C94, <br />section 14. <br />1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A. Quality Control By Owner: <br />1. Special Inspection of concrete work shall be performed by the Special Inspector <br />under contract with the Owner and in conformance with the IBC Chapter 17. Special <br />Inspection of concrete is in addition to, not replacing, other inspections and quality <br />control requirements specified herein. Where sampling and testing specified herein <br />conforms to Special Inspection standards, such sampling and testing need not be <br />duplicated. <br />2. All structural concrete work shall receive Special Inspection in accordance with IBC <br />Chapter 17. Structural concrete includes elements which resist code-defined loads <br />and whose failure would impact life safety. Non-structural site work concrete does <br />not require Special Inspection. Anchor bolts and anchors installed in hardened <br />concrete require Special Inspection. <br />3. Refer to Section 01 45 23 Testing and Inspection Services for Owner provided <br />testing. <br />B. Quality Control By Contractor: <br />1. Where required to demonstrate conformance with the specified requirements for <br />cast-in-place concrete, the Contractor shall provide the services of an independent <br />testing laboratory which complies with the requirements of ASTM E329 and ASTM <br />C1077. The testing laboratory shall sample and test concrete materials as specified <br />in this section. Costs of testing laboratory services shall be borne by the Contractor. <br />2. Concrete testing laboratory personnel shall be certified in accordance with the ACI <br />Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician – Level 1 Certification Program or the ACI <br />Concrete Strength Testing Technician Certification Program, or an equivalent <br />program. <br />3. Refer to Section 01 45 00 Quality Control. <br />C. Basis For Quality: <br />1. Cast-in-place concrete shall conform to the requirements of ACI 301, except as <br />modified herein. <br />D. Concrete Conference <br />1. Contractor shall schedule and conduct a meeting to review the specification <br />requirements and the proposed concrete design mixes, including procedures for <br />producing proper concrete construction. Hold the meeting no later than 28 days after <br />the Notice to Proceed. <br />2. All parties involved in the concrete work shall be included to attend the conference, <br />including the following: Contractor's representative, testing laboratory, concrete <br />subcontractor, concrete supplier, reinforcing steel subcontractor, Owner’s <br />Representative, and Engineer.
