-3- <br /> explosives , or inflammables , or other substances of like nature, or <br /> any materials , compounds , combinations or things whatsoever hich may <br /> tend to increase fire hazard, or to conduct any hazardous business <br /> or operation, or to perform any service of like dangerous character, <br /> within the limits of this city, shall make application in writing <br /> to the chief of the fire department, and it will be illegal to <br /> roceed with such manufacture, transportation, sale or use of such <br /> hugh explosives, etc. until a license or permit shall have been <br /> issued by the chief of the fire department. <br /> ,,a-AZ- Section 3: 7o person shall kindle, maintain or assist in <br /> maintaining any bonfire or other exposed fire within the city, except- <br /> ing under written permit from the chief of the fire department,when <br /> such burning shall be done in metallic receptacles approved by him <br /> and under such proper safeguard as he may direct as to time and <br /> weather conditions, and on condition that such permit carries an <br /> obligation on the part of the grantee to keep a sufficient safe <br /> control cf said fire , an.d to be responsible for all damages there- <br /> from, and that all resultant embers shall be extinguished and the <br /> hot ashes removed or wet down at the close of said fire. <br /> Section 4: Any parson or persons , firm or corporation <br /> violating any of the provisions of this ordinance or any of its <br /> sections, or the provisions of any permit issued in conformity here- <br /> with, shall, upon conviction, forfeit and pay a fine of not more than <br /> twenty-five 025.00) dollars for each offense, and not more than <br /> t-,renty-five (.525.oo) dollars for every day thereafter so long as the <br /> said violation exists , and a fine of not more than one hundred <br /> ($1O0.00 ) dollars for subsequent violations. <br /> Section 5: This ordinance shall not be construed as <br /> repealing any ordinance or parts of an ordinance of the city of <br /> .rverett relating to the same subject. <br />
