• In recent years, the District has embarked on an ambitious plan to modernize older buildings.
Despite this endeavor, there still are a few 25 to 50 year old facilities which are in need of
renovation. Without the necessary modernization, it is an on-going maintenance challenge to
keep these schools in service.
• In addition to major new construction and modernization work on school facilities, the District
is finding it necessary to address other district wide needs. Seismic and roofing upgrades,
technology upgrades, a new maintenance facility and athletic facility improvements are among
the areas receiving attention.
• The District construction program in recent years has been financed in large part by passage of
a $96.5 million bond issue in 1990 and a $68.5 million issue in 1996. Lesser amounts have
come from state match and growth mitigation fees. For a variety of reasons, bond issues are
becoming more difficult to pass. At the current time, the District has no specific time set for
another bond issue election.
Everett School District Section 1 - 3 Capital Facilities Plan
