As a designer and writer specializing in
research-driven visual communication, I create interpretive media that blends historical
narrative, ecological insight, and accessible design.
My previous work for the City of Everett includes six interpretive signs installed at Clark Park
(2), City Hall (2), Emma Yule Park, and Thornton Sullivan Park. I am also the author and
illustrator of Everett Massacre, a graphic novel exploring Everett’s labor history.
This proposal outlines the project purpose, scope, timeline, budget, deliverables, and
anticipated community impact.
Project Purpose
Interpretive signage enhances public spaces by sparking curiosity, deepening understanding,
and highlighting the significance of place. Everett’s identity—shaped by its industrial roots,
natural environment, and evolving community—offers rich material for meaningful storytelling.
The purpose of this project is to create four interpretive signs that:
•Highlight the historical significance of specific locations along the Lowell Riverfront
•Explain ecological features unique to the Snohomish River and surrounding habitat
•Engage visitors through concise, visually compelling narratives
•Strengthen Everett’s connection to its natural and cultural heritage
Maps, historical photographs, diagrams, and clear visual hierarchy will be used to create
signage that is both informative and inviting.
Project Scope
Locations
The project includes four signs placed at two locations along the Lowell Riverfront Trail:
