1 The mix design will be performed by a lab accredited by a national authority such as <br /> 2 Laboratory Accreditation Bureau, L-A-B for Construction Materials Testing, The Construction <br /> 3 Materials Engineering Council (CMEC's) ISO 17025 or AASHTO Accreditation Program <br /> 4 (AAP) and shall supply evidence of participation in the AASHTO Material Reference <br /> 5 Laboratory (AMRL) program. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 At the discretion of the Engineer, agencies may accept mix designs verified beyond the one <br /> 8 year verification period with a certification from the Contractor that the materials and sources <br /> 9 are the same as those shown on the original mix design. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 50448 1,;.- <br /> 12 5-04.3(8)A1 General <br /> 13 (January 16, 2014 APWA GSP) <br /> 14 <br /> 15 Delete this section and replace it with the following: <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Acceptance of HMA shall be as defined under nonstatistical or commercial evaluation. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Nonstatistical evaluation will be used for all HMA not designated as Commercial HMA in <br /> 20 the contract documents. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 The mix design will be the initial JMF for the class of HMA. The Contractor may request a <br /> 23 change in the JMF. Any adjustments to the JMF will require the approval of the Project <br /> 24 Engineer and must be made in accordance with Section 9-03.8(7). <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Commercial evaluation may be used for Commercial HMA and for other classes of HMA in <br /> 27 the following applications: sidewalks, road approaches, ditches, slopes, paths, trails, <br /> 28 gores, prelevel, and pavement repair. Other nonstructural applications of HMA accepted <br /> 29 by commercial evaluation shall be as approved by the Project Engineer. Sampling and <br /> 30 testing of HMA accepted by commercial evaluation will be at the option of the Project <br /> 31 Engineer.
