She acknowledged that
they have changed contractors and there is an estimate in with a wide high-low IN WRITING which is
what the owner was looking for.
Thanks again
From: Meg Haley
Sent:Tuesday, November 24, 2015 13:44
To: Steve Goforth; Ted Budden
Cc: Donald Cunningham; Jim Venturo
Subject: RE: 611 West Casino
Hi Steve,
I will take a stab at this one. A new deck for a multifamily building, especially for the exit, would require
a building permit. The instructions for submitting the permit are online at everettwa.gov/permits,
specifically under'multifamily permits'tab.
Submissions have to be made in person at Permit Services. Drawings indicating the scope of work and
fees are to be submitted with the permit application, indicating connections, materials, dimensions, etc.
If the contractor or the owner does not know the applicable codes, a design professional can prepare
the drawings for them.
Will you refer this to Code Enforcement to create a case? I don't see one in there currently. Creating a
Code Enforcement case would lead to scheduling a hearing, if needed, to put a timeframe and fines tied
to the resolution of these issues.
A permit application and issuance is required before we send out inspectors to review the work submitted
on the permit drawings.
Does that answer your questions?
Meg
From: Steve Goforth
Sent: Tuesday, November 24, 2015 1:33 PM
To: Ted Budden; Meg Haley
Cc: Donald Cunningham; Jim Venturo
Subject: 611 West Casino
Good afternoon:
I received a call about the repair to the deck at 611 W. Casino. The contractor doing the job and the
property manager are at a standstill with the owner.
The owner will not approve the work until the contractor gives an estimate. The contractor cannot
give an estimate until he knows what the city will require.
