You had reviewed photos
that I sent you back in December and determined based on those photos that the entry porch of the
building were structurally unsafe and sent the following email message;
The supporting columns and supports located at the entry porch of the building were structurally unsafe due
to decayed and deteriorated conditions and settlement. The columns are no longer plumb and true, nor are
they secured, anchored, and connected adequately. IPMC section 304.11 requires that stairways decks and
porches be maintained structurally sound in good repair with proper anchorage.
This porch is an Unsafe Structure as defined by the IPMC. (Section 108.1.1)
Ted supports and encourages enforcement action to abate these conditions.
I spoke with the owner to advise, and of course steps have not been taken to repair the porch so I am
issuing a VC today. Since the residence is occupied should we post it"Unsafe" if so can, do you have time
to do that?
1
