. ,.
 ' INTERNATIONAL FORESTRY CONSULTANTS, INC.
• t .
1729 208th Street S.E. #201 • Bothell, Washington 98012 • U.S.A.
November 26, 2003
Mr. Larry Cram
City of Everett, Street Department
3200 Cedar St.
Everett, WA 98201
Re: Trees - 3401 Grand Ave, Everett, WA
Dear Mr. Cram:
At your request, I have examined four trees two white pine, a Douglas fir and a Blue Spruce
standing at 3401 Grand Avenue in Everett, Washington. The purpose of the examination
was to determine the hazard rating of the subject trees and to suggest remedial action if
appropriate.
The trees were examined on November 26, 2003 by Tom Hanson.
Tree detail is attached on the "Tree hazard Evaluation Forms".
The pine trees and Douglas-fir are 40 or more years in age. Tree # 2 has a double trunk but
the others are singles. All of these trees are in good condition.
In particular the pines are not displaying the common indicators of white pine blister rust (red
needles, heavy pitching, poor vigor) .
The Douglas fir is in very good condition but appears to have uplifted the sidewalk (under
repair at the time of my visit.) The root cutting required for the sidewalk appears shallow
(under 12-inches) and I don't expect signcant affect to this tree.
The Blue spruce is not a particularly long-lived speaes in this region and is subject to shoot
boring insects, however there is no indication of decline or insect infestation.
In my opinion these trees are healthy and in not in need of removal or other remedial action.
The pines should be checked periodically for rust infection, the Douglas-fir for decline from
the root cutting and the spruce for shoot borers and decline.
There is no warranty suggested for any of the trees subject to this rport. Weather, laterrt
tree conditions, and future man-caused activities could cause physio/ogic changes and
deteriorating t►e condition. Over time, deteriorating tiee conditions may appear and there
may be conditions, which aie not now visible which, could cause tree failure. This report or
the verbal comments made at the site in no way warrant the structura/ stability or long terrn
condition of any tree, but rprsent my opinion based on the observations made.
Neariy all tres in any condition standing wifhin reach of imprrvements or human use areas
rpresent hazards that could /ead to damage or injury.
Please call if I can be of further assistance.
(425) 398-8830 FAX (425) 398-0930
info@inforestry.com
