June 17, 2005 <br />Dear Neighbor, Re£ Removal of Dover Street Trees For Safety <br />Dover Street Area <br />Everett, WA <br />I live at 1722 W. Mukilteo Blvd., which is directly across the sVeet from the City of Everett's Harborview <br />Park. See Sketch # 1. <br />There are several trees located on Dover Street near Mukilteo Blvd. that two recent private surveys proved <br />are located on the City's Dover Street right-of-way. The trees are not on private property. See photos. <br />These trees are a public safety hazard issue because they: <br />1. Cause Dover Street to be too narrow, <br />2. make it difficult for the Everett School District school buses to meet other traffic in the area of the <br />trees, and in past years, the school bus rear view mirrors have been bent, or broken hitting the trees, <br />3. make it difficult for the Mukilteo School District school buses to meet other traffic in the area. of <br />the trees, and in past years, the school bus rear view mirrors have been bent or broken hitting the <br />trees, <br />4. two October, 2003, storms blocked Dover Street with targe broken branches and one large branch <br />almost hit the house at 1722 W. Mukilteo Blvd., <br />5. during the October, 2003 storm, one huge branch broke and while hanging on the P.U.D. power <br />lines, caught on fire, <br />6. during the_October, 2004 storm, more tree branches littered Dover Street, hung from the P.U.D. <br />__ _ __ <br />power lines and fell near the house at 1722 Mukilteo Blvd. <br />_ . _ _. . _ . _ _ _ _. _.. <br />The City of Everett has a Public Tree Poticy that was developed "to address the concern for the retention <br />of our urban forest, the.preseryation of street trees, the removal of hazardous trees and guidelines. for the_ - <br />management of all the trees in Everett enttusted to our care:°' The Tree Policy Committee meets on the 3'� <br />'Thursday of every month at,the City of Exerett Spada Con€erence.
