The governing code is found in Section 606.2 of the 2012 <br />International Property Maintenance Code, as adopted by the City of Everett which is as follows: <br />"In buildings equipped with passenger elevators, at least one elevator shall be <br />maintained in operation at all times when the building is occupied." <br />As the elevator in question is not a passenger elevator, the removal of the freight elevator is <br />not in violation.
