ORDINANCE NO.2681-03 <br /> AN ORDINANCE GRANTING AN EXTENSION OF THE NATURAL GAS FRANCHISE <br /> NOW HELD BY PUGET SOUND ENERGY <br /> WHEREAS, the City granted Washington Natural Gas, Inc. a Washington corporation, a <br /> franchise to provide natural gas utilities in the City in ordinance no. 390-76 and <br /> WHEREAS, Puget Sound Energy is the successor to Washington Natural Gas, Inc.; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City and Puget Sound Energy are presently negotiating a renewed <br /> franchise consistent with laws regulating such franchises; and <br /> WHEREAS, ordinance no. 2604-02 extended the franchise granted in ordinance no. 390- <br /> 76; and <br /> WHEREAS,the extension expires on April 30, 2003; and <br /> WHEREAS, substantial progress has been made, but negotiations have not been completed; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, both the City and Puget Sound Energy desire to continue negotiating but do <br /> not desire to interrupt natural gas service in Everett; <br /> WHEREAS, Puget Sound Energy and the City find it mutually beneficial to extend the <br /> existing franchise for a reasonable period of time in order to promote and facilitate an orderly <br /> franchise renewal process. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1. Finding The City finds the franchise extension approved by this <br /> ordinance is in the interest of the public. <br /> ORDINANCE-1 <br />
