u
Ted Budden
From: Meg Haley
Sent: Thursday, November 12, 2015 4:56 PM
To: Ted Budden
Subject: 3732 Rockefeller Ave
u
This building has permit history of being a single family home. At some point, three kitchens were added and several
bedrooms were added on three different levels of the house. The interior stairway was blocked off, and three separate
entrances were added. The main entry and porch was enclosed and turned into two bedrooms, which were not
insulated. Electrical, heating, and mechanical work were done without permits.
The following issues were observed during a site visit on 10 November by Code Enforcement and Permit Services, with
access granted by the owner's representative.
• New unsafe entrance to second floor with stairway not meeting minimum code requirements.
• New bedrooms not having lawful headroom, egress, smoke detection, and carbon monoxide alarms.
• New bedrooms without sufficient heat.
• Multiple new sleeping rooms within three separate dwelling units, without adequate fire separation or
suppression.
• Access to basement unit and second floor unit missing minimum handrails, or guards.
• Unsafe electrical service to the structure is possible fire hazard on north elevation.
In addition to being unlawful, the structure appears to be unsafe. Permits and review are required by Planning, Building,
and Public Works plan reviewers. The applicable codes will be determined and the owner will be advised in writing prior
to their submittal of the permit application.
Nteg
Meg Haley, RA City of Everett Permit Services
3200 Cedar St, Everett WA 98201 425.257.8813
mhalev@everettwa.ov _ it.
